Awabakal Enterprise completed a $300,000 refurbishment to create a custom-built dental clinic for the community.
Thanks to funding from the NSW Ministry of Health – Oral Health Unit, via the Centre for Aboriginal Health, an existing structure was reconfigured to allow for three state of the art consult rooms, which are run by Hunter New England Health for the local community.
Outcomes
This development addressed a community need for improved preventative oral healthcare. The wait list for appointments was three months long prior to opening and this has been drastically reduced, improving health outcomes for the local Aboriginal community.
